In Jakhama, the 78th Independence Day was celebrated at the SDO (Civil) Office premises on 15th of August 2024 with SDO (C) Jakhama, Nockpai Konyak unfurled the National Flag, took the Rastriya salute from DEF Kohima, Khuzama Police Station and delivered the Independence Day speech.

The National Anthem was sung by the students of John Government Higher Secondary School, Viswema. The event was attended by heads of offices, government staff, GBs, and Dobashis.
