Along with the nationwide celebrations of the 78th Independence Day, the sub division of Mangkolemba under Mokokchung district too joined the graceful events at the public ground, Mangkolemba with Advisor for Transport and Technical Education, Government of Nagaland Temjenmenba as the Chief Guest on 15th of August 2024.

Temjenmenba unfurled the National flag, took the Rashtriya Salute and delivered the Independence Day speech. The national anthem was sung by the students of BHSS, Mangkolemba. Altogether four (4) parade contingents took part in the ceremonial march past led by 2nd NAP 'Coy' Tzuptapela followed by GHSS, Mangkolemba, BHSS, Mangkolemba and GMS, Mangkolemba-II.

The events also featured a cultural presentation from GHSS, Mangkolemba and JNV, Longnak. During the event, a notable highlight was the formal inauguration of exhibition stalls by the Chief Guest that showcased a variety of agricultural products. These products were prominently displayed and made available for purchase by different departments and Self-Help Groups, including the Social Welfare Department, Animal Husbandry, RD Block Mangkolemba, Community Health Centre Mangkolemba, and RD Block Tsurangkong.

Furthermore, as part of the Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission, the Arok Village Level Organization (VLO) of Japu Village presented locally made pickles and dried fruits at the exhibition. The beneficiaries of the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) from Senden Women Self Help Group of Lakhuni Village and Luyimen Women Self Help Group of Longpayimsen Village also participated by selling a variety of fruits and vegetables. In addition, an anti-rabies vaccination camp was organized by the Veterinary Department.
