The 78th Celebration of the Indian Independence Day was celebrated at Local Ground Medziphema Town, Sub-Division, on 15th August 2024 with Advisor, Tribal Affairs, Election, Government of Nagaland H. Tovihoto Ayemi graced the occasion as the Chief guest.

The Chief Guest on his arrival unfurled the National flag and took the Rashtriya Salute followed by singing of the National Anthem by students of King David Higher Secondary School, Medziphema. He then inspected the parade contingents and delivered the Independence Day speech. Nine parade contingents took part in the March Past which was led by Parade Commander, Neichizo Rio, ABI, DEF Commissioner of Police Dimapur.

The following contingents which took part in the March Past were: NAPTC Battalion; NCC (Girls) SFS Hr. Sec. School, Medziphema; King David Hr. Sec School, Medziphema; SFS Higher Secondary School, Medziphema; GHSS, Medziphema; Chakhro Baptist Mission School, Medziphema; Modern Christian School, Medziphema and Rivenburg School with Pipe Band from SFS Higher Secondary School.

The highlights of the day include Cultural Presentation by Medziphema Town Sumi Woman Organisation (Title Medziphema Town Sulimi fetching the water from the streams of father Tovithoto Ayemi) and special presentation by Eliane Music School, Medziphema.

A day-long celebration concluded with inauguration and inspection of the exhibition stall by the Chief Guest which was installed by VFATI, NRC (Mithun), ICAR (NEH). NU-SAS, Banks, Forest Department, Vivi Ornamental, Akhrie Flower, CHC, CMHIS. The celebration concluded with an exhibition football match played between Medziphema Warriors (35+) vs Rural Legends Medziphema (35+). The programme was witnessed by the Government servants, GBs, NGOs, Public Leaders, public and students.
