The 78th anniversary of Indian Independence Day was celebrated at local ground Meluri on 15th of August 2024. Advisor for New & Renewable Energy and Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, Government of Nagaland, Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe unfurled the National flag and took salute from Seven parade contingents composed of VG Pipe Band; VG Meluri Post; NCC, St. Xavier Higher Secondary School Meluri; NCC, Christian Higher Secondary School, Merluri; St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Meluri; Christian Higher Secondary School, Meluri and Government Higher Secondary School, Meluri.
The Parade Contingents was led by ABSI. Nungsangchuba DEF Phek and Hav. Ponghrong Konyak ‘F' Coy, 5th NAP, Meluri as the first & second parade in - command.
The Highlights of the celebration includes, Choreography presented by S. Pethüry School, Meluri; Drill Display by CHHS Meluri; Folk Dance by Meluri village and Khumiasü village Women Cultural Troupe.
Earlier, the Special Guest also inaugurated exhibition stalls set up by various departments and Self-Help Groups. Thousands of people including government officials, public leaders, Students and general public of Meluri Sub- Division attended the program. Rhotsumu Pfithu PGT, GHSS, Meluri and Savithsü Nyuthe, Assistant Teacher, SXHSS, Meluri were the comperes of the programme.
