With the rest of the country the 78th Indian Independence Day was celebrated at Peren district Head Quarter ground on 15th of August 2024. The Minister for power & Parliamentary Affairs K.G. Kenyie graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and unfurled the National Flag and took Rashtriya Salute from the Parade Contingent composed of: All Saint Higher Secondary School; Government Higher Secondary School, Peren; Jawahar Navodaya Vidyala, Jalukie; Sainik School Punglwa; NCC Peren Government College; Baptist Higher Secondary School, Peren; DEF Peren and 9th IR Saijang participated in the March past.
Entertainment was performed by Baptist Higher Secondary School Peren and Jawahar Navodaya vidyalaya Jalukie, and Cultural dance was presented by Peren Government College.
On the occasion the Annual District Award was also given to Dr. Ndangkie Ndang Veterinary Assistant Surgeon (VAS) for rendering his selfless service to the department and the district ever since he was posted to Peren district.
Asmita Mukherjee for clearing her HSLC from St. Xavior HSS Jalukie in Top 11 position in the year 2024. She has been awarded the Governor award for securing the Highest mark in Agriculture subject. She was also a member of the children's Parliament in the year 2022 and took the role of education Minister for the children's Parliament 2023 for Peren circle. She also took active part in various district and state level competitions.
Dausanliu Rentta was given the district award for winning the Bronze Medal in the North East Games 2024 in tanding pencak silat in a traditional martial art originating from Indonesia. and known for its dynamic movement.
Volie Rentta served as a Sub- Divisional Officer, PHED Tening under the office of executive Engineer PHED Peren Division. He was awarded for showing exemplary dedication to his office and demonstrated his ability to a great extent in all activities in the town and beyond his call of duty.
T. Opanglemba Ao was awarded for his performances and exemplary dedication and selfless service as a technical personnel field employee in the establishment of Fishery Officer Peren.
During the institution visits, DEO Evaluation, DEO Employment, Water Resources, Tourist Officer, ALC Labour Excise visited jail, while the Nagaland Zeliang People’s Organisation visited Children Home & State Bank of India (SBI) Visited Peren District Hospital.
K.G. Kenyie also Inaugurated and inspected the stalls.
