The Independence Day celebration program was held at Pughoboto Town Local Ground and commenced with the Rashtriya Salute by the Chief Guest which was followed by the National Anthem and Parade Inspection. After the speech by the Chief Guest, the Parade contingents led by Parade Commander ABSI Shonyelo Keppen and Second in Command Havaldar, Atobo Sumi gave a splendid March past. The parade contingents comprised of four contingents from 8th NAP Battalion, Government Higher Secondary School Pughoboto, New Foundation School and Mission School.

Other highlights of the celebration program included folk songs from Hekhuli Group Mishili Village & Heboluto Women Group Pughoboto besides a patriotic song presentation 'Teri Mitti' by Topeni Futhena. The 4th Open Penalty Shootout organised by Sumi Baptist Church Pughoboto Youth Department was won by Lazami Baptist Church. The MLA also inaugurated exhibition stalls organised by the Department of Agriculture which comprised of organic agri produce stalls from various Self Help Groups mobilised under Departments of Agri, Horticulture, NRLM and also featured handicrafts stall from Nagaland Christian Revival Church (NCRC) Mishilimi. 

The program ended with a Beating of Retreat and hauling down of the National Flag.
