The 78th Independence Day 2024 celebration at Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza Kohima was marked with Patriotic Dance ‘Chak De India’ performed by children of Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home, songs titled ‘You Raise Me Up’ presented by NSSA Music Club and ‘Vande Mataram’ by Nagaland Madrigal Singers. The National Anthem was led by Government School Choir of Ruzhukhrie Government Higher Secondary School and Dr. Neilhouzhu Kire Government Higher Secondary School representing the Department of School Education.

During the celebration, folk dances and songs were performed by 8 Cultural troupes: Sakhabama Youth Organisation of the Angami Tribe, Pfushon Zie of the Rengma Tribe, Surumi Cultural Society of the Sumi Tribe, Phusachodu Christian Youth Endeavour of the Chakhesang Tribe, Tikhir Women Union Kohima Cultural Troupe of the Tikhir Tribe and Mangmetong Cultural Club Kohima of the Ao Tribe. Folk songs were also presented by Beru Cultural Troupe of the Yimkhiung Tribe, Mutao Dombu Edou of the Chang Tribe.
