Director General of Police, Nagaland Rupin Sharma, IPS visited SP office Wokha and had meeting and interaction with the officers and Civil Society Organisations, including Lotha Hoho, Lotha Eloe Hoho, Lotha Youth Hoho, Lotha Student’s Union, DB Union and Wokha District Village Council Chairman Association on 17th August 2024 at SP Office Conference hall, Wokha.
DGP, Rupin Sharma while addressing the Police Officers and CSOs, said recently the State Police with the intention of reducing crime and for the safety and security of the citizens a new system is being in practise where checking of vehicles has been done in about 300 (three hundred) locations all over the State to curb illegal activities, where the DGP sought the support and co-operation from all section of society in strengthening the hand of Nagaland Police. He also lauded the efforts put in by Wokha Police led by the Superintendent of Police and all rank and files in maintaining law and order in the district.
While appealing CSOs not to take law in their own hand, he stated police are always there for the safety and security of the people and urged them to trust in there initiatives so that peace and tranquillity can be maintained. He also highlighted some of the important issues taken up by the state police mainly in relation to control of drugs menace in the state. Stating number of cases registered in the different police stations does not reflects how peaceful the society is at large, he reminded the officers to find out how crimes are taking place or happening and act accordingly in order to maintain cordial law and order situation.
SDPO, Wokha Sangthing Khiam, NPS presented the crime overview statistics relating to various cases such as NLTP, NDPS, vehicles and other activities conducted in regard to community policing.
Interacting with the DGP, the representatives from CSOs highlighted to the DGP about the menace of drugs in the district, strengthening of forces in the borders areas and influx of illegal immigrants.
The gathering was chaired by Additional S.P Wokha. K. Soriso, while SP, Wokha Aotula T Imchen, IPS delivered the welcome address. The DGP was accompanied by DIG (Range/ Kohima), Uniel Kichu, IPS and DIG (NAP/IR) Chumrenthung, IPS.
