PM SHRI (Prime Minister's Schools for Rising India) was launched by the Government of India on 7th September 2022. Under the Scheme, over 14,500 schools will be established across the country as PM SHRI Schools which will showcase the implementation of NEP 2020 and emerge as exemplary schools over a period of time. It aims to create and nurture holistic and well-rounded individuals equipped with key 21st century skills.

In Nagaland, so far 27 Government schools have been selected as PM SHRI Schools.

As part of the 78th Independence Day celebrations held at the Red Fort, New Delhi, PM SHRI Schools from Nagaland were invited as special guests. This prestigious event was graced by the participation of two students and two teachers from Nagaland, representing PM SHRI GHS Thahekhu and PM SHRI GMS Showuba Old, along with an official from the State Mission Authority, Samagra Shiksha.

The participants also visited places of National importance such as India Gate and the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya.

The participants from the PM SHRI Schools also had an interactive session with the Education Minister, Minister of State for Education, Secretary and Additional Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education. It may be mentioned that a student from Nagaland was selected from across the PM SHRI schools to felicitate the Education Minister.

The participants had an enriching experience which served as a poignant reminder of the importance of unity in diversity, and the unwavering spirit of the Indian people.
