Integrated Training Session Conducted for “CTY BARN” and “Health on Bike” Staff of Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) under Collaborative Efforts of NSACS, National Health Mission, Government of Nagaland, and USAID India-PRERANA project.
In a significant collaborative effort, the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), the National Health Mission (NHM), Nagaland, and the USAID-PRERANA project have come together to conduct an integrated training session for the “CTY BARN” and “Health on Bike” staff of NSACS on August 21st & 22nd, 2024 respectively. The training aimed to enhance the staff's knowledge and skills in Family Planning and Sexual Reproductive Health services, ensuring they are well-prepared to support these services which are available in primary health facilities under National Health Mission.
This joint initiative between the two departments envisions to include provisioning of family planning commodities/SRH information and services in the newly launched program of ‘CTY BARN’ under NSACS in 4 districts as well as under the ‘Health on Bike’ initiative run by NSACS across 8 districts of the state, ensuring broader outreach and accessibility. The training was inaugurated by head of both the departments - Dr Akuo Sorhie, Mission Director, NHM and Dr. Ahu Sekhose, Project Director, NSACS in presence of Dr. Bernice, Joint Director, TI, NSACS and representatives from USAID India and PRERANA and other government officials. This collaborative effort underscores the commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery in Nagaland, particularly in the areas of family planning and SRH services.
PRERANA is a USAID-funded five-year initiative till Dec 2028, dedicated towards strengthening Sexual & Reproductive Health (SRH) services across all eight north-eastern states of India by facilitating development of innovative solutions and supporting local government, private sector, and civil society and through co-designing locally relevant strategies and evidence-based Family Planning/ Reproductive Health solutions for the youth. PRERANA aims to significantly improve the health outcomes for marginalized and population in vulnerable circumstances including people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) and with focus on models with integration as its core that transcend the health sector and foster integrated, cross-sectorial solutions including but not limited to HIV, mental health, gender based violence, etc.
