The Department of Urban Development held a retirement ceremony in honor of retiring Director, A. Chenithung Lotha and retiring Joint Director (URIS), T. Mangyang Longkumer at Conference Hall, Directorate of Urban Development, Kohima on 30th August 2024.

Advisor for Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio led the tributes to the retiring officers, praising their commitment, dedication, and hard work. "There is a time for everything under the sun," Rio remarked, emphasizing the significant contributions of Lotha and Longkumer. He encouraged the current officers to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors by working collaboratively to bring about positive societal change.

Commissioner and Secretary of Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Kekhrievor Kevichüsa, reflected on the transformative impact both retiring officers had on the department. He particularly highlighted the problem-solving nature of the outgoing Director, who positively influenced those around him. Kevichüsa expressed his eagerness to work with the incoming Director to continue the department's growth and improvement.

President of NPPA, Kezhochole Rhetso, also paid tribute to the retiring officers, recognizing their passion and dedication. She thanked them for inspiring and mentoring their colleagues during their tenure.

In his farewell speech, retiring Director A. Chenithung Lotha expressed gratitude to the department, reflecting on his journey and encouraging officers to strive for excellence in urban governance. Retiring Joint Director, Mangyang Longkumer, who completed 35 years of service, shared his appreciation for the support and camaraderie of his colleagues, which made his career fulfilling.

Incoming Director, Solesul Tholre, expressed his honor in continuing the work laid down by his predecessors. He committed to maintaining the legacy of transparency, good communication, and teamwork in the department.

The ceremony, chaired by Joint Director Tarachu Fithu while vote of thanks was delivered by Joint Director, Petevilie Khatsu.
