The Tokhü Emong celebration kicked off at the Local Ground, Wokha with MLA and Chairman of DPDB Wokha, Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe, NCS (Rtd) gracing the inauguration of Tokhü Stalls 2024 as the special guest on 4th November 2024.
During the inaugural event, Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe acknowledged the Lotha Hoho for honouring their heritage and celebrating Tokhü Emong, which symbolizes unity, peace, and brotherhood. He reminded attendees that the Lotha community has historically overcome numerous challenges, with their ancestors pioneering in various fields, including social and political arenas.
Humtsoe highlighted that the Lotha community has been a forerunner among the Nagas, contributing significantly to the social and political formation and reformation of the Naga society.
The festive atmosphere of Tokhü Emong continues to foster a sense of togetherness and pride among the Lotha people, with the support of various dignitaries and community leaders.
During the event a welcome note was delivered by Er. Mhondamo Ovung Chairman Lotha Hoho, while guideline for the usage of Tokhü Stalls was informed by Limathung N. Yanthan President Lotha Youth Hoho.
The event was chaired by Joint Secretary, Lotha Hoho, Er. Limathung Odyuo and invocation was proposed by Pastor Wokha Town Baptist Church, Rev. Abemo Jungio.
The event featured around a hundred stalls promoting youth, handicrafts, and entrepreneurship in the district. Tokhü Emong, the premier festival of the Lotha community, began on November 4 and will continue until November 7. The main event on November 7 will be attended by S. Supongmeren Jamir, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Nagaland, as the special guest.
