A meeting of stakeholders regarding the ongoing Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls was held in the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima. Deputy Commissioner, Kumar Ramnikant, IAS chaired the meeting and called for active support from NGOs and political parties to address errors and ensure an accurate revision of the electoral rolls.
Electoral Roll Observer for Kohima district, Kesonyu Yhome, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary to the Chief Minister (Works, Housing, and Finance), urged political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and collaborate closely with PLOs. He highlighted the need for a clean electoral roll to facilitate peaceful and fair elections, emphasizing that despite special camps, the number of new enrollments remained low. Yhome encouraged NGOs and political parties to conduct internal meetings, sensitize their members, and work towards enrolling all eligible citizens.
The meeting was attended by various officials, including the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Election Officer, AEROs from Kohima district, and BLOs of polling stations in Kohima Town. Representatives from prominent organizations such as the Angami Public Organization (APO), Angami Women Organization (AWO), and Angami Youth Organization (AYO), along with presidents and representatives of recognized political parties under Kohima Division/Unit, also participated.
