Celebrating 25th years of the iconic hornbill festival, the Advisor of Information & Public Relations and Soil & Water Conservation, Imkong L Imchen launched a special Media Kit at the Media Facilitation Centre, Kisama, Kohima on 1st December 2024.
The Commemorative Media Kit, specially curated by the Department of Information & Public Relations features contributions from various departments, each reflecting a unique promotion of the State’s local produce. The eco-friendly tote bag and stationery items were contributed by the Department of Information & Public Relations. The Department of Agriculture donated sticky foxtail millet packets, Department of Women Resource Development included an assortment of Myki products like gooseberries, pineapples, popped rice and local spices, Nagaland Bee Keeping & Honey Mission gave bottle of stingless honey. The Department of Industries & Commerce contributed specially crafted key chain and pen stand, Department of Sericulture gave Eri Cocoon Brooch. The Department of Health & Family Welfare assembled a first aid kit while the Department of Printing & Stationery provided customised note pads for the occasion. Fingerprint Nagaland, the officials print partner of the 2024 Hornbill Festival contributed a commemorative brooch.
Dubbed the “Festival of Festivals,” the Hornbill Festival, first launched in 2000, has grown into an internationally recognized event that celebrates the state’s 17 tribes through music, dance, crafts, and cuisine. This year, the silver jubilee edition features a grander lineup of cultural performances, exhibitions, and sporting events, attracting thousands of domestic and international tourists.
The media kit launch is expected to enhance global media coverage of the festival, further solidifying its place on the world cultural map. The Hornbill Festival will run until December 10, offering visitors an immersive experience in the vibrant traditions and hospitality of Nagaland.
