A newly constructed water fountain at Kohima Village Gazetted Officers' Association (KVGOA) Island, Chatsa, near NPSC Office, Kohima was officially inaugurated on 19th December 2024 by Commissioner and Secretary to Chief Minister of Nagaland, Kesonyü Yhome  as special guest.

The project, funded by the Pollution Control Board through the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Kohima marks a significant addition to the Island's attractions.

In his words of encouragement, Kesonyu Yhome commended the collaborative efforts behind the successful execution of the project. He called upon the Association to take the lead in inculcating civic sense, especially amongst the young children. He also underscored the importance of the active participation of the community towards keeping the city clean and attractive.

Giving a brief report about the project, Dr. Menuosietuo Tsiekha said that the centerpiece of the fountain is a striking design featuring four horn cups, known locally as Hieke. These symbolic elements represent the four Khels of the village, reflecting the unity and heritage of the community. The hand represents the blessing of the Almighty upon the village and the Naga community in general. He also highlighted the cultural significance of the design and expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the project.

The programme was chaired by KGOK, President Kethosituo Sekhose NCS, who also in his closing remarks expressed his gratitude to the District Administration for awarding the project to the Association. He acknowledged the efforts and contribution made by each individual towards the project and added that the conceptualization and supervision of the project were spearheaded by the former LGOK president, Dr. Menuosietuo Tsiekha .
