Minister for Planning Neiba Kronu briefed media on the state COVID -19 status and initiatives taken by the Nagaland Government at Secretariat Conference Hall on 12th June 2020.

Kronu informed media that 9 samples have been tested COVID-19 positive today and another 17 samples was tested positive the previous night and the State total positive now stands at 156 out of which 126 are active cases. He also added that all positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 Hospitals.

Kronue remarked that with a view to further strengthen the manpower of the Health & Family Welfare Department, the Cabinet meeting held on 11 June, 2020 approved creation of fifty three posts of Specialist Doctors for 11 District Hospitals creation of 1post of Director (Medical Education & Radiation Safety) at the level of Special Selection Grade, creation of 5 posts of Zonal Leprosy Officer (Longleng, Kiphire. Peren: Phek & Zunheboto) at the level of Senior Grade, encadrement of 2 posts of District Vector Borne Officer (Tuensang & Zunheboto) into the cadre of the Nagaland Health Service as and when the present incumbents vacates the same to be manned by medical doctors creation of 143 (one hundred & forty three) posts of Staff Nurse to be deploy in all the District Hospitals. He further informed that Cabinet also approved age condonation of twenty eight Staff Nurses under Health & Family Welfare Department and fresh appointment be made against the sanctioned post regularization of nineteen serving contract Medical Officers under the Health & Family Welfare Department regularization of twenty seven existing Medical Officers who have been engaged by the Department for a period of one year.

Kronue said that Cabinet further directed that the approval is in one-time relaxation of laid down rules and procedures for recruitment, regularization and condonation of age and this one-time measure in view of prevailing situation in the backdrop of Covid-19 pandemic.

 Kronu also said that a Special Train from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala departed with 966 persons on the 9th June 2020 will reach Dimapur tomorrow carrying stranded people of Nagaland from the States of Kerela, Tamil Nadu. Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Kronu also said that another Special Train from Delhi with about 1000 persons will be leaving Delhi on 14 of June 2020 and reach Dimapur on the 16th June 2020.

Nagaland spokesperson for COVID - 19 Mmhonlumo Kikon informed media about Nagaland CM video conference with the Union Minster Dr Jitender Singh in the afternoon and conveyed about proposal by Nagaland government to initiate an e-office to manage all correspondence electronically to which the DONAR minster replied that is also the propriety in PMs Program. He further said that during the video conference CM also discussed and reminded about the Airport in the capital and also the Trans- Nagaland highway which is one of the major project of Nagaland government to be taken up on priority. Kikon also highlighted about CM’s video conference earlier in the day with DCs, CMO and SPs of all the districts to take reports on the ground works being carried out by them.

 Kikon also highlighted media about the expenditure incurred by the Government of Nagaland for managing and feeding returnees in all quarantine centers in Nagaland till 12 June 2020 is Rs 86863146. He added that the Government of Nagaland through the District Task force hires caterers to cater food in all the quarantine centers and any issues relating to the quality of food must be addressed by the District Task Force and it is their responsibility to also see that proper food are being supplied by the caterers.

Also highlighting on the two mode of transportation namely 32 special buses and 9 special trains to bring back stranded persons from 13 different states to Nagaland the amount incurred till date by the government of Nagaland was Rs 1.65 lakh.
