The three-day Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP), organized by Swavalamban Connect Kendras in collaboration with the District Administration and various line departments, commenced successfully at the Deputy Commissioner's Office, Kohima on 26th February 2025. With 20 aspiring entrepreneurs participating, the program aims to equip budding entrepreneurs with essential knowledge and skills to navigate the entrepreneurial landscape and contribute to the region's economic growth.
The event began with an introductory address by the District Centre Manager of SCK, Neiketou Theyo, followed by an overview of the EDP by Moasunep K. Jingru, EAC. The speakers emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship in driving local development and urged participants to embrace innovative ideas and think beyond conventional career paths.
The first session featured resource persons from the banking sector, including Temsu Meren, Lead District Manager (LDM), and representatives from the Agri and MSME Credit Centre, State Bank of India- Katila Aier, Chief Manager and Ngaite, Manager. The session focused on critical financial aspects such as working capital management, understanding CIBIL scores, maintaining loan accounts, cash credit (CC) loans, term loans, and various banking services and schemes tailored for entrepreneurs. The bankers also highlighted the essential documentation required for availing credit facilities, underlining the significance of insurance, Income Tax Returns (ITR), and Goods and Services Tax (GST) compliance. They encouraged participants to utilize available financial schemes and develop sound financial management skills.
The second session was led by Keviboto Sheqi, Managing Director of Pioneer Coaching Institute. Drawing from his own entrepreneurial journey, Sheqi shared valuable insights into the challenges faced by entrepreneurs, strategic decision-making, and effective business management. He motivated the participants to overcome local barriers, think globally and seize emerging opportunities. Sheqi emphasized that with the right mindset, innovation, and perseverance, local entrepreneurs could make a significant impact beyond the district.
The Entrepreneurship Development Program will continue until February 28, 2025, featuring more interactive sessions and expert insights aimed at nurturing and empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs in Kohima district.
