Nagaland is set to enhance its disaster preparedness with the installation of an Early Warning System (EWS) to provide timely alerts for natural calamities. The initiative follows the request of Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Phangnon Konyak, to which Union Minister of State, Dr. Jitendra Singh, responded with immediate support.

Phangnon Konyak expressed gratitude to Dr. Jitendra Singh for his prompt response to the request, acknowledging the significance of this initiative for the people of Nagaland.

The Early Warning System (EWS) will play a crucial role in:
Earthquake monitoring and early warnings.
Extreme weather warnings, including heatwaves, cold waves, heavy rainfall, and floods.
Lightning and thunderstorm alerts.
Landslide early warnings.
Other timely alerts for disaster preparedness and mitigation.

Given Nagaland’s vulnerability to natural disasters, this EWS will be instrumental in safeguarding lives and properties by ensuring better preparedness and response measures.
