Chief Minister of Nagaland Dr. Neiphiu Rio inaugurated the Deputy Commissioner's Bungalow at Mokokchung on 2nd May 2025. The inauguration was graced in the presence of all the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Members of Mokokchung district and other dignitaries. In his inaugural speech, Rio mentioned that the DC bungalow of Mokokchung is a historic place in the state and has historical significance since the British occupation of the Naga Hills.
He also mentioned that his late father-in-law, who was an IFAS Officer, also stayed in this place between August 1969 to May 1970 as Deputy Commissioner.
Rio also recalled all the good memories shared by his lady wife during her stay in this bungalow as a child during the late 60's.
He lamented that several precious artefacts and materials, which were of cultural and historical significance and part of this bungalow, had been lost over the years. Therefore, he appealed to the administration and other officials to keep a proper record of the properties.
The Chief Minister also thanked the contractor and engineers for the swift completion of the project before the stipulated time.
