A meeting on monsoon preparedness-cum-quarterly meeting of the Peren District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) was held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, DDMA Peren, Hiazu Meru at DC's Conference Hall, Peren on 5th May, 2025.

DC in his opening address said that like every year before the monsoon season sets off, the quarterly meeting-cum-monsoon preparedness meeting has been convened to assess the district readiness and preparedness level as well as identity areas that needs improvement. He also emphasized on the coordinated preparedness among all line departments/agencies & companies and further highlighted that each of them has an important role in managing emergencies and for which he requested their active involvement and intervention in responding to monsoon related disasters.

Additionally, Meru said we have to prepare for the worst scenario and further highlighted some of the potential disasters like landslide prone areas or sinking areas which can pose a serious threat to the commuters, and urged the concerned departments and companies to give special attention in maintaining the roads and also ensure that the roads are taken care of and is pliable or motorable for commuters during monsoon season.

During the course of the meeting, DC advised the Food & Civil Supplies (F&CS) Department to gather well-stocked essential commodities. CMO Peren has been entrusted to maintain adequate stock of  medicines for timely response to health emergencies, and several other line departments have also been directed to be well prepared and stay alert in case of any eventualities.
