The Peren District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) organized a felicitation programme to honour the meritorious students of HSLC & HSSLC Examination 2025 at DC's Conference Hall, Peren on 7th May, 2025.
The honoured students includes - Lungyihangle Bring (Rank - 1), Ichung (Rank - 6), Sherwin Daimai (Rank - 14), Pewangben Meriam (Rank - 16), Idabuing Iralu (Rank - 17), Keyisap Irangbe (Rank - 18), Igumlule Teilia (Governor's Awardees), Dijenliu (Governor's Awardees) and Hatnunhoi Touthang (Governor's Awardees).
Speaking at the felicitation programme, Deputy Chief Minister, T.R. Zeliang congratulated all the meritorious candidates, particularly Lungyihangle Nring, who has managed to secure the Top 1 position in the HSLC Examination 2025. He said, her success will undoubtedly serve as a huge inspiration not only for the students’ community from Peren District, but also for students across the State.
Zeliang also congratulates all the successful candidates from the district who have managed to cross the HSLC and HSSLC Examinations with flying colours. He said, this achievement is not just a testament to the hard work and dedication but also a reflection of the potential that lies within the community.
Zeliang also said, "In Peren District, where students have shown remarkable performance, the literacy rate has been steadily increasing over the years", where he mentioned that, according to the latest census, the literacy rate in Peren District stands at 79.2%, which he said is a testament to the district's commitment to education. Stating that this achievement is just the beginning of their journey and moving forward, facing new challenges and opportunities, he urged the students to continue striving for excellence, to push beyond their limits, and never to stop learning.
The programme was chaired by, SDO (C) Peren, Sentilong Ozukum, while invocation and blessing prayer was offered by Rev. Haiku Nza, Pastor, PTBC and short speech was delivered by Lungyihangle Nring.
Earlier, the DPDB meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dy. CM & Chairman, DPDB Peren, T.R. Zeliang.
Following the review of the last meeting minutes, the Application for 'Introduction of Science Stream at GHSS Jalukie' was discussed, where in DEO Peren, Limadanjit Aier supplemented on the agenda. The house after a thorough deliberation, decided to approve and forward it to the Government.
Other agendas deliberated and approved in the meeting includes - Proposal for 'Adoption of Ngwalwa Village as Arecanut Village' and proposal for use of newly constructed Eye Hospital at District Headquarter as the Health and Wellness Centre.
At the meeting, DPO (ICDS)/DWO, I. Tsungrosongla Ao gave a brief PowerPoint presentation on the departmental activities, highlighting the various welfare schemes implemented in the district by the Department of Social Welfare. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from the chair.
