Schools as an educational institutions  should not be compromised  with non performance, said MLA & Chairman SDPSB, Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon, during  the monthly Sub Divisional Planning and Developmental Board,  held at the conference hall of the Summer House-Cum-Guest House, Bhandari, Wokha on 9th May 2025.

Kikon chairing the meeting welcomed newly posted officers at Bhandari, and also congratulated and felicitated the three toppers from Bhandari sub division for their remarkable performance in the HSLC and HSSLC examination 2025.

While reviewing developments at the Nagaland Seed Farm, Merapani, Kikon emphasised that it would be unfortunate should there be any issue challenging the validity of ownership of the Nagaland State Seed Farm, since the state owned Seed Farm unquestionably belongs to Nagaland by all means.

Advocating cancellation of leasing out farm lands at the State Seed Farm, MLA stressed that instead of leasing out farm lands to detrimental tenants at the expense of our land security; it could be converted into a major rice bowl for the whole state of Nagaland and beyond.

He also reiterated that as an elected member through people's mandate, he would not hesitate to protect and protest if any illegal move is made to take away land that belongs to the State historically, ancestrally and legally.

On enrolment, performance and role of teachers in delivering quality education in government schools within Bhandari sub division, the house sought head of schools and teachers to attract higher enrolment and to focus on goal oriented results through motivation and adaptation to the changing times.

Kikon urged and reminded head of schools present at the meeting that schools, as educational centres, its purpose should not be defeated by non performance and on that note there should be no compromise.

After thorough assessment and deliberation the house resolved to recommend down gradation of GMS Yampha Old to GPS on ground of nil enrolment to class 6, 7 and 8 for the past three consecutive years.

On transfer of 6 schools namely GPS Akahuto, GPS Akuhaiqa, GPS Aghauitito, GPS Khakuthato, GPS Methihe and GPS Zuxeshe, from SDEO Mangkolemba establishment to SDEO Bhandari establishment, Deputy Director, Y. James Humtsoe, Incharge of SDEO Bhandari, informed the house that the schools were already transferred to EBRC Bhandari, following official order in the year 2020, but were still functioning and monitored by SDEO Mangkolemba.

In this regard the house emphasised that the schools are located within Bhandari sub-division administratively and geographically and therefore, reiterated the need for better monitoring and functioning of the schools under SDEO Bhandari. It further resolved to apprise the concerned department to undertake necessary steps to facilitate the schools under SDEO Bhandari without further delay.

Highlighting on the progress of the ongoing Foothill Road construction under Baghty division, Er. C. Tungoe, SDO PWD (R&B) informed that construction work in the 5 Bridges is going on as expected, except in one for the time being. He also informed that earth cutting and widening work is going on in some patches.

JE Power also informed the board that for shifting of 1.6 MVA Power Transformer to Merapani 33KV line, all physical and manual work has been completed.

While thanking the MLA and Chairman SDPDB Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon for initiating and funding the project, the JE also mentioned that one Hydra is required to lift the Power transformer for final installation and commission thereof.
