The Office of the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Mokokchung, in collaboration with the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Mokokchung, organized a World Environment Day programme on 5th June 2025 at Longmisa Village, Mokokchung. The event was conducted under the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (One Tree in Mother’s Name), aimed at promoting environmental consciousness through personal dedication and community participation.
The programme began with an invocation by Merensosang, Chairman of Longmisa Village, followed by a welcome address delivered by Imtionen, Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies (DRCS), Mokokchung. The representative from DFO, Mokokchung, spoke on the significance of World Environment Day, underscoring the urgent need for sustainable environmental action.
A key highlight of the event was the tree plantation ceremony, where participants each planted a tree in the name of their mother—symbolizing a personal and emotional attachment and commitment to environmental preservation.
As part of the initiative, 300 saplings were distributed to two Integrated MPCS cooperative societies, with the responsibility of planting them along roadsides and within school compounds. This reflects the active engagement of the Cooperative Movement towards environmental stewardship, aligning economic cooperation with ecological responsibility.
