The Liangmai Students’ Union Nagaland (LSUN) organised the Combined Teachers’ Day cum Cultural Day on 5th September 2025 at Tening town hall under the theme “Honouring Wisdom, Celebrating Culture.”
The event was graced by ADC Tening, K. Furhesie Nyuwi, NCS, as the special guest, with Mr. Samuel Nrak and Ms. Phuibamliu Nbung as the hosts.
In his address, the special guest highlighted the invaluable role of teachers in shaping society and encouraged students to uphold their cultural roots while striving for excellence in education.
The programme began with an invocation by Rev. Wichampau Nchang, Executive Secretary of Liangmai Baptist Association (LBA), followed by greetings from Maisithuibo, President of LSUN.
A series of performances and speeches marked the celebration, including a special song from St. Francis de School, Tening, a speech on behalf of teachers was delivered by the Principal of Government Higher Secondary School, and short speeches from students representing SFS, Zeliangrong Heraka School, Baptist High School and Government Higher Secondary School Tening.
Cultural presentations added vibrancy to the event, with ZHST presenting a traditional dance and BHST presenting a special song. A presentation segment was also part of the programme.
The second session of the event was successfully conducted, featuring a series of competitions and activities aimed at encouraging creativity, expression, and talent among participants.
The session began with extempore speech and traditional howling competitions, where participants demonstrated confidence, originality, and entertainment, winning appreciation from the audience. This was followed by the segment “Open Stage to Showcase Your Talent”, which provided a platform for students to exhibit their skills beyond the competitive events.
Chandun Rentta, General Secretary of LSUN, delivered the Vote of thanks, appreciating the efforts of participants, organisers, and judges.
The program concluded with a Benediction offered by Fr. Francis, Principal of SFS, invoking blessings for the success of the event and its participants.
