Department of School Education, Mon organised Teachers’ Day 2025 celebration, with the theme “Empowering Educators for a Progressive Future”, at Town Council Hall, Mon on 5th September 2025.
Deputy Commissioner Mon, Wennyei Konyak, NCS graced the occasion as a special guest. He said, It’s a special occasion honouring the remarkable contribution of educators around the world. It’s an opportunity to express our gratitude and appreciation for their tireless effort, who dedicated their lives, shaping the mind and heart of our students. Teachers are the cornerstone of our educational system. Teachers inspired curiosity and cultivated a lot for learning, to reach full potential as well as responsible citizens. He also encouraged teachers by citing the example of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was a teacher. A teacher is not somebody who teaches in the class but apart from teaching, teachers also have some scope, aims and contribute a lot to nation building. Without teachers, our nation will not grow. He acknowledges all the teachers for their extraordinary commitment. He also salutes the teachers who are from far places, teaching and nourishing our people.
T. Limawapang, PGT, GHSS Mon while speaking on behalf of the Awardees, said that it is a day not only to show gratitude to teachers but also to pay tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was the founder of the Teachers’ Day. He appreciated the District Education Office for organising this programme and as a teacher, he encouraged all the teachers to reaffirm in their teaching profession.
Kemya T Konyak of St. Mary’s School, Mon while delivering the Significance of Teachers’ Day, thanks the teachers for their invaluable contribution to their growth and development. She said that it is a day to give tribute to those who shape our minds and inspire dreams. She added, teachers may not wear a cape but they are real-life heroes.

Yeihlem, St. John Higher Secondary School Mon, while chairing the programme said that a good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination and instil a love of learning. She also said that teachers turn every challenge into a lesson and every student into a success story.
