The Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer, graced the opening ceremony of the Nagaland Darts Championship on 5th September 2025, organised by The Nagaland Darts Association and lauded the Association’s efforts in promoting darts across all districts of the state.
In his address, the Speaker who is also the Chief Patron of The Nagaland Darts Association (NDA) appreciated the presence and support of entrepreneurs and acknowledged the commendable initiative of the NDA in fostering sports culture. He expressed confidence in the Association’s potential and called upon all to contribute towards the state’s progress through sports, while also preserving Nagaland’s indigenous identity.
Highlighting the opportunities in today’s digital and globalised world, Longkumer noted that Nagaland’s human resources have earned recognition beyond the state. He suggested that the Association invite players from outside Nagaland to participate in tournaments, which would not only promote the sport and the state but also provide valuable exposure for local talents to learn and grow.
The Speaker further emphasised the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, encouraging the organisers to contribute to Nagaland’s development by bringing minds together and conducting events in an environment-friendly and sustainable manner to give them a global outlook. He also mentioned the government’s efforts in identifying sporting talents across the state and called for grooming them with values and opening wider opportunities. On darts, Longkumer underlined the skill of balance and coordination it requires, and encouraged the participants to pursue the sport with dedication and enthusiasm.
The Nagaland Darts Association (NDA) presented a Dartboard to their Chief Patron. The Nagaland Darts Association ever since its inception in 2012 has grown in strength and numbers. The association has brought laurels to the state in various national championships and represented the country in many international events.
President, David Angami highlighted various achievements and activities of NDA. NDA has its district partners in Kohima, Dimapur & Zunheboto. NDA also aims to have district partners in all the remaining districts of Nagaland. This is the 7th edition of the tournament, this year’s tournament has 28 participants in various categories.
