An awareness program on early intervention and inclusive quality education was held at GPS Industrial Village, Dimapur in collaboration with Blessed Bonding (NGO) and sponsored by the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities on 13th September 2025.
Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, who graced the program as the special guest, highlighted the importance of early intervention and noted that parents must be aware of their children’s challenges and responsibilities. He informed that early intervention is primarily the responsibility of parents, but it was also a collective duty of the community and society at large.
Appreciating the initiatives made by Angel Home, he stated that inclusive education should be implemented in all schools. He commended schools and education departments in Dimapur for making awareness and providing opportunities to children irrespective of disabilities.
He encouraged students to stay motivated and assured them of support. He also mentioned inspiring figures like Stephen Hawking and Stevie Wonder as examples of how people with disabilities can achieve greatness in their lives.
The DC encouraged for collective support, emphasizing that everyone had a role to play and support one another. He assured that the district administration is always ready and available to assist in any way possible.
The event was chaired by Primary Teacher of GPS Industrial, Keren Sumi and began with an invocation by Imnatoshi Longkumer, followed by a welcome address from Madam Carne Chishi, TOT Urban Dimapur.
Special presentations were made by GPS Industrial and Angel Home, Signal Angami, followed by sharing of testimonies by parents from GPS Industrial and Blessed Bonding. Beni Seb Chishi, a qualified Behavioural Therapist, spoke on the importance of early intervention, while Madam Loyilo Kikon from Samagra Shiksha JUBRC elaborated on important features and benefits of inclusive education. Orentsani N. Kithan, Developmental Paediatrics Department, CIHSR, highlighted the importance of early detection and support for children with special needs.
Remarks and observations were delivered by representatives from the SCPD and education officials, followed by a vote of thanks from Shanchamo Yanthan, General Secretary of Blessed Bonding.
