The Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Promotion Council of India (MSMEPCI) inaugurated its Dimapur District Office at Orchid Square, near Trinity Tower, Indisen Village, on October 3, 2025.

The programme was chaired by Aosashi Longkumer, Vice Chairman of MSMEPCI Dimapur District. The invocation was pronounced by Rev. Sentiyanger, Pastor of Indisen Baptist Church, while the welcome note was delivered by Washipong Longkumer, District Chairman of MSMEPCI.

Advisor for Transport & Technical Education, Temjenmenba, who graced the program as the Chief Guest, stressed the importance of strengthening MSMEs as a means to expand economic opportunities and reduce the state’s dependence on government employment. He noted that the government sector is overburdened and cannot accommodate the rising demand for jobs. To overcome this challenge, he said the younger generation must actively explore alternatives such as entrepreneurship, skill-based enterprises, and innovation-driven ventures.

He emphasized that departments such as Skills, TaFMA, and IDAN have been consistently working to channel the creativity of youth into constructive pathways, providing them with platforms in various fields.

Temjenmenba further pointed out that India’s greatest strength lies in its youth, particularly Gen Z, who are dynamic, adaptive, and technologically inclined. He observed that this demographic has the capacity to propel the nation towards the goal of “Viksit Bharat,” or a developed India, if their energy is directed toward building self-reliant enterprises. According to him, the MSMEPCI office in Dimapur could serve as a gateway for entrepreneurs to learn about digital tools, financial literacy, and government schemes that can support their growth.

Temjenmenba expressed confidence that the office would become a center of collaboration, connecting entrepreneurs with banks, industry leaders, and policymakers. He concluded by encouraging young Nagas to embrace the entrepreneurial spirit as a way of contributing not only to their personal success but also to the prosperity of the state and the nation.

Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, praised the establishment of the MSMEPCI office as a timely initiative. He observed that the perception of Nagas being lazy was misplaced but cautioned that many young people tend to restrict themselves to white-collar jobs. With government vacancies limited, he stated that the true scope for growth lies in small-scale enterprises, agriculture, and allied sectors. He noted that several schemes, including the Chief Minister’s Micro Finance Scheme, are designed to aid entrepreneurs, but success depends on discipline, repayment of loans, and proper utilization of resources. He encouraged the youth to register with the MSMEPCI office to access training and guidance, while assuring that the district administration would extend support for sustainable and responsible entrepreneurship in Dimapur.

In his inaugural speech, Lanuakum Jamir, Nagaland State Chairman of MSMEPCI, said the new office would serve as a resource hub for entrepreneurs, startups, and youth seeking business guidance and support. He underlined that micro, small, and medium enterprises are the backbone of India’s economy and called upon the youth of Nagaland to channel their energy into entrepreneurship instead of relying only on government jobs. He highlighted the council’s plan to facilitate loans, consultancy services, registration and compliance assistance, and training in collaboration with financial institutions and government agencies. Jamir also encouraged women and young people to “dream big, start small, and aim high,” stressing that building a self-reliant economy requires collective participation from society.

Thungchanbemo Tungoe, CEO of Dimapur Municipal Council, described the inauguration as not just the opening of an office but the opening of opportunities. He emphasized that the focus of MSMEPCI should be on small and micro entrepreneurs, who form the backbone of society. He urged the youth to dream boldly, begin with small ventures, and steadily expand with confidence and determination. He expressed optimism that the office would inspire hope, prosperity, and skill development across Dimapur and beyond. He also assured that the Dimapur Municipal Council would collaborate closely with MSMEPCI to strengthen entrepreneurship at the grassroots level.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Sentimeren Jamir, Vice Chairman of MSMEPCI Dimapur District, followed by a benediction from Rev. Dr. Temjen Ozukum. The event ended with refreshments.
