The launching programme of the PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana and Mission for Aatmanirbharata in Pulses was held on 11th October 2025 at the DC's Conference Hall, Dimapur, organized by the District Administration Dimapur in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Allied Departments.
The programme was chaired by Leah, Agriculture Officer, while Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, NCS, Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, graced the event as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Chang remarked that India, as a whole, is an agriculture-based country, and a large part of Nagaland’s economy depends on agricultural projects. He noted that although the implementation of this five year programme has begun in Mon District and he is hopeful that it will soon be extended to other districts as well. He further observed that while Dimapur is largely an urban district with fewer agricultural activities, it should not lose focus on agriculture. Instead, he urged that more emphasis should be placed on strengthening agricultural initiatives. Dr. Chang also encouraged all attendees to disseminate information about the newly launched schemes so that their benefits may reach a wider section of the population.
The keynote address was delivered by Rokovotsolie Peseyie, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO), who explained that the PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) aims to revolutionize Indian agriculture by making it more productive, sustainable, and financially rewarding. He highlighted that the scheme consolidates 36 existing agricultural programmes across 11 ministries, focusing on 100 low-productivity districts with challenges such as degraded soil, low yields, and limited access to resources. The scheme also seeks to boost farmer income through modern technology, irrigation, training, and market linkages.
A live webcast of the Prime Minister launching the PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana and Mission for Aatmanirbharata in Pulses was streamed during the event. Through the launch, agricultural projects worth over ₹42,000 crore were awarded to farmers nationwide, along with the inauguration and foundation stone laying of more than 1,100 projects under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, and Food Processing sectors.
