The 56th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Ltd. (NSCtCB) was held on 24th October 2025 at the NSCtCB Conference Hall, Head Office, Dimapur. The meeting was chaired by H. Kashito Yepthomi, Vice-Chairman, NSCtCB Ltd.
The meeting began with an invocation prayer by Rev. Vilodi Sakhire, Pastor, Town Baptist Church, Dimapur, followed by a welcome address from Jonah, General Manager (Admin). The proceedings of the 55th AGM were confirmed, and the Annual Report of Directors and Auditors for 2024–25 were presented and approved. The revised budget for 2024–25 and estimated budgets for 2025–26 and 2026–27 were also adopted.
In his address, Commissioner & Secretary, Department of Cooperation and IPR, Nagaland, Orenthung Lotha lauded the Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Ltd. (NSCtCB) for its steady progress and contributions to the cooperative banking sector in the state. He noted that the cooperative movement plays a crucial role in empowering rural communities, promoting entrepreneurship, and driving inclusive economic growth across Nagaland.
Highlighting the theme of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, Lotha said that the government’s vision is to ensure that every village in Nagaland has at least one functional cooperative society that contributes to local livelihood improvement and self-reliance. He emphasized that cooperative institutions should not only pursue financial growth but also uphold values of transparency, accountability, and service to their members.
He remarked that the success of cooperative societies is directly linked to the prosperity of their members, stating that “when the members’ businesses grow, the bank also grows.” Lotha encouraged members to keep their documents updated, make timely loan repayments, and take an active role in meetings by offering constructive suggestions to strengthen the cooperative network.
He also called upon the bank to introduce innovative financial products tailored to the needs of farmers, women entrepreneurs, and small business owners, thereby supporting inclusive and sustainable economic development. Lotha commended the efforts of the NSCtCB management and staff for their dedication in improving operational efficiency, reducing NPAs, and expanding digital banking services for greater accessibility.
Concluding his remarks, Lotha urged all cooperative societies, financial institutions, and government departments to work together in strengthening the cooperative movement so that it continues to serve as a foundation for rural growth and economic stability in Nagaland.
Bokato Hesso, Registrar of Cooperation, Nagaland, Kohima, also spoke on the occasion, commending the bank’s progress and encouraging cooperative societies to adopt transparency, accountability, and sound management practices to further the cooperative mission.
P. Bulte, General Manager (OIC), NABARD, Regional Office Nagaland, in his address, congratulated NSCtCB for its achievements and urged the bank and its affiliated cooperatives to continue innovating and implementing inclusive financial services that benefit rural communities.
As part of the AGM, awards were presented to the best-performing Cooperative Societies, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Joint Liability Groups (JLGs), and Bank Branches for their outstanding performance and management.
The Best Performing Cooperative Societies was awarded to ME-YONG-PEN MPCS, Longpa Village, Mokokchung; ELI MPCS, Diphupar Village, Chümoukedima and BSF AAFCS, Pukha Toku, Zunheboto Town respectively.
The Best Performing SHG Award was presented to NGVU LOGWA SHG, Zi-sunyü Village, Tseminyu, and PE-KUTSU SHG, Pukhahto Village, Niuland.
For the Best Performing JLG Award, the first was begged by KIP-FU-ZHA JLG, Krotho Village, Kigwema, Kohima, and the 2nd Prize by SUNG-TI-BEN JLG, Signal Angami, Dimapur
The Best Performing Branch Award were - Category A: NSA Branch; Category B: Mon Branch and Category C: Chozuba Branch.
Managing Director, Abhijit Kumar Deb, who was recognized by Indian Startup Times as one of the 50 Most Influential Leaders in Cooperative Banks, was also felicitated for his leadership in revitalizing the bank’s operations, reducing NPAs, and achieving dividends after 26 years.
The meeting concluded with the Chairman’s Remark delivered by H. Kashito Yepthomi, who thanked the Board, management, and shareholders for their trust and cooperation in advancing the cooperative banking movement in Nagaland. The programme ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Abhijit Kumar Deb, Managing Director.
