The Kohima Lotha Hoho celebrated its Golden Jubilee with grandeur and cultural vibrancy, coinciding with Tokhü Emong, the premier festival of the Lotha community, under the theme “ future -ready reasoning” at NBCC convention center Kohima on 7th November 2025.
The landmark celebration brought together tribal leaders, elders, youth and well-wishers from across the districts, showcasing a spirit of unity, pride and community progress.
Delivering the Chief Guest’s address, Dr. Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister of Nagaland, congratulated the Kohima Lotha Hoho on reaching the 50-year milestone. He commended the organizers for hosting an event that brought together Lothas from various districts alongside leaders from other tribes marking it as an exemplary display of unity.
Highlighting the richness of Lotha culture, Rio emphasized the importance of preserving and passing down traditions to future generations. Referring to Wokha district as a land “rich in beauty, resources, resilience and potential,” he noted that the Lotha community ranks high in per capita income and human development indicators.
The Chief Minister lauded the community’s hardworking and innovative spirit, describing it as an inspiration to others. He expressed hope for enduring peace and urged the people to direct their energy and resources toward meaningful and constructive pursuits.
Addressing the occasion as Guest of Honour, Deputy Chief Minister, Home and Border Affairs Yanthungo Patton extended warm greetings to the community. Patton also urged the youth to work hard, pursue knowledge and rise above divisive “isms” while upholding unity, forgiveness and harmony for the progress of Nagaland. He noted the special significance of the Golden Jubilee coinciding with Tokhü Emong, and expressed gratitude for the Lotha community’s steadfast support to the state government.
Chief Minister of Nagaland, Dr. Neiphiu Rio, officially launched the book titled “The Divine in the Ordinary” written by Sentienla P. Ezung after the formal program at NBCC convention center.
Other highlights of the program included a special song titled ‘A Lotha’ which was presented by Eyilobeni Kikon and theme song presented by the jubilee choir. A Cultural dance was presented by Lotsu village cultural troupe. Short speeches were also delivered by representatives from Lotha HOHO Oking, Lotha officer’s Association and Kohima and Lotha Ekie Ekhung.
Minister Women Resources Development,Horticulture Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Advisor for School Education and State Council of Educational Research & Training Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor Agrilculture Mhathung Yanthan, Dr.Chumben advisor to the Chief Minister, Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe MLA, Achumbemo Kikon MLA, Advisor, Prison, Printing & Stationery Er. Kropol Vitsu and a host of other dignitaries and church leaders and tribal leaders were present at the event.
