In his address, Deputy Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang lauded the achievements of the DPDB and congratulated Er. Bursenla Ao, EE (PHED) Peren and Dr. Namsui Thou, Chief Veterinary Officer Peren on their promotions. He commended the DC Peren for initiating various activities to develop the still-growing district headquarters and for consistently organizing monthly mass social work, which he described it as a commendable practice worth continuing. He also appreciated the successful conduct of the Unity Mini Hornbill Festival under the DC’s leadership.
Zeliang further congratulated the Organizing Committee of the 11th Inter-Departmental Tournament for hosting the event successfully, noting that such activities strengthen coordination and foster better relationships among departments.
Highlighting the importance of the Information & Public Relations (IPR) Department, he stated that although the department may not directly undertake development works, its role in documentation is crucial. He emphasized that records preserved by IPR help keep history alive, and suggested that the DPRO Peren collect and compile photographs, names, and information of important figures and personalities from the district who have contributed in various capacities, so that the records of the district is well-preserved for the future.
Acknowledging the cooperation among the departments, he expressed appreciation for the collective progress achieved so far and urged all members to continue working in unity. He also extended warm Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year wishes to all.
Welcoming the members, Deputy Commissioner, Peren, Hiazu Meru expressed sincere gratitude to the Deputy Chief Minister for taking the initiative to renovate the DC’s Office Building and Conference Hall. He also congratulated Dr. Namsui Thou, Chief Veterinary Officer, Peren, on his promotion to Additional Director.
Reviewing the ongoing Unity Mini Hornbill Festival, the DC thanked all Heads of Departments and Heads of Offices for their support, informing the house that the first two days of the festival had been successfully conducted. He noted that the festival has showcased unity among the diverse communities of Peren district. Highlighting a positive outcome, he said that the brand ‘Green Peren’ has gained visibility through the exhibition stalls where value-added products were displayed. He encouraged all Agri. & Allied Departments to geo-tag their products to clearly identify their place of origin and emphasised the need for maintaining authentic data, regardless of the scale of production.
The DC also observed that while the response from HoOs and CSOs during district events has been commendable, participation from subordinate staff and the general public remains low. He stated that mandatory participation of government servants in major programmes would help uplift the district headquarters. For the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, he announced that all departments will be asked to set up their respective stalls to ensure wider involvement. He further appealed to all officers and staff to be sincere and regular in discharging their duties to build a vibrant district headquarters.
During the review, ADC Peren, D. Robin, presented a brief report on the 11th Inter-Departmental Tournament, held from 12th–14th November at Jalukie Town.
