The Sanitation Support Team, operating under the State Government, has played a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and promoting responsible waste management at the 26th edition of the Hornbill Festival 2025 held at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, Kohima.
A dedicated team of 80 to 90 sanitation personnel, comprising both men and women from various age groups, are deployed daily across the festival grounds. Working from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the team undertook tasks such as waste collection, segregation, sweeping, and overall upkeep of the venue.
Despite waste bins placed at strategic locations, the high influx of visitors continued to pose challenges in managing waste effectively. However, through the coordinated efforts and continuous monitoring, the Sanitation Support Team ensured that the festival venue remained clean, safe, and welcoming for all attendees.
The team coordinators extended greetings to the festival visitors and appealed to the public to adopt responsible waste disposal habits. They highlighted the importance of maintaining cleanliness not only during the festival but also in everyday life to create a healthier and more pleasant environment.
