The State-Level Launching Programme of Watershed Mahotsav 2025 was held at Naga Solidarity Park, Kohima on 8th December 2025, organised by the State Level Nodal Agency (SLNA), Department of Land Resources, Government of Nagaland.
The event was graced by Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Minister of State, Ministry of Rural Development and Communications, Government of India, as the Guest of Honour. In his address, Dr. Sekhar highlighted the importance of watershed development in strengthening rural livelihoods, promoting sustainable resource management, and ensuring long-term ecological security. He emphasized that integrated watershed management plays a vital role in enhancing water conservation, soil health, and community development.
Advisor, for Department of Land Resources, G.IkutoZhimomi served as the Host of the programme. He stated that Watershed Mahotsav 2025 is a platform to reinforce collaborative efforts among government agencies, communities, and stakeholders to conserve natural resources and promote climate-resilient livelihoods.
The programme was chaired by Dr. G. Hukugha Sema, IRS, Chairman, SLNA and Commissioner & Secretary, Department of Land Resources, while Albert Ngullie CEO,SLNA &Director,Land Resources, presented a briefed note on Watershed Mahotsav and vote of thanks was proposed by Hekato N Addl. CEO,SLNA & Addl. Director, Land Resources.
Officials from the Government of India and Nagaland, representatives from various districts, community leaders, and stakeholders attended the event.
