The Niuland District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held on 16th January 2026 at DC Conference Hall Niuland.
Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman of the DPDB Niuland, Sara S Jamir, while chairing the meeting declared 2026 as "The Year of Plantation" and urged the concerned department officers to prepare for successful implementation.
The DC also reviewed the achievements and ongoing activities in the district and requested all the officers to outline their respective department’s activities for the year 2026.
District Fisheries Officer (DFO), Fisheries Department, Dr, Amenla gave a detailed presentation on the past 3 years of the Department’s development activities and undertakings in the district. In this regard, the DC said that the fishery market in the district has good prospects and urged the department to explore marketing strategies that would boost the district’s economy. The DC also suggested the department to submit a proposal for a fish farm and to conduct a fish festival in the district.
