Tesen village under Peren district marked a significant milestone on 20th January 2026 with the inauguration of a Community Hall at Old Tesen village and a Basketball Court at Christian School, Tesen. The facilities were inaugurated by the Commanding Officer of 9th Assam Rifles, Col. Mohit Kumar Bansal, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event was further honoured by the presence of Company Commander, Major Abhey Sambyal, who attended as the Guest of Honour.
The newly inaugurated infrastructure is expected to play a vital role in strengthening community engagement and promoting youth development in the region. The Community Hall will serve as a common platform for social, cultural and developmental activities, while the Basketball Court will encourage sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles among the students and local youth.
The projects were undertaken under Operation Sadbhavana 2025–2026, a people-centric initiative of the Assam Rifles aimed at fostering goodwill development and trust between the security forces and local communities in remote and border areas.
The entire village community expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Assam Rifles fondly referring to them as the “Friends of the Hill People”, for their continued efforts not only in safeguarding the nation but also in uplifting the lives of people living in far-flung areas. The initiative stands as a testament to the Assam Rifles’ commitment towards inclusive development and nation-building beyond their core security responsibilities.
Other highlights of the programme included a cultural dance performance by the Old Tesen Youth Club and folk song presentations. The National Anthem was sung by the congregation, while the vote of thanks was delivered by the Chairman of the Tesen Lui Council, Iherang Putlang.
The formal programme was chaired by the headmaster, Christian School Tesen, Namputlak Kauring.
