In Meluri, the National Voters' Day was observed under the theme "My India, My Vote" at Dobashi Court, DC office on 25th January 2026, with DC & DEO, Meluri, K. Mhathung Tsanglao as the special guest.
Speaking on the theme "My India, My Vote", the DC emphasised the importance of Adult suffrage given by the constitution, where every legal adult has the right to vote. He said the National Voters’ Day is celebrated to remind us of the privileges of having a right to vote and to encourage every person to use our vote wisely as given by the constitution of India. He said every person has the power to bring a change in our society by casting our vote consciously, and pointed out that selling our vote, is selling our birthright. He therefore appealed to the citizens to use our vote as our birthright and to remember the rights given by the constitution of India.
Later in the programme, felicitation of Best Booth Level Officer was awarded to K. Shekupo Chizo, Primary Teacher from Polling Station No.7, Kizari Village under 20-Meluri Assembly Constituency. Further, Badges were distributed to newly enrolled Voters.
During the programme, welcome address was proposed by the chairperson, Kum. Pipfusa Pojar, EAC & AEO incharge of Meluri. Significance of NVD 2026 was delivered by Sakuchingmak, SDO (Civil) & ERO, Meluri. The SDO (Civil) also administered the NVD Pledge.
The programme featured a folk tune by the Women Society from Khumiasü Village and concluded with the closing remarks by Zuchibemo Ezung, EAC Meluri.
