Dimapur District Task Force led by Deputy Commissioner Dimapur Anoop Kinchi IAS, has decided for imposing lockdown in Dimapur wef 26th July to 2nd August 2020. The decision was taken during the District Task Force meeting held today  23rd July 2020 in the conference Hall of DC Dimapur for enhancing active surveillance by CMO team Dimapur and also for ensuring comprehensive contact tracing as well as for slowing down the chain of transmission process, for containing the spread of COVID 19 infection in the district.

However, keeping in mind the well being of the citizens, the members decided that essential commodities (grocery) stores would be opened from 9am to 2 pm. All non essential commodities shops including bakeries would remain closed during the lockdown period. Movement of public will be prohibited except those coming out for availing essential commodities. In all essential commodities stores, social distancing has to be strictly maintained. 

With regard to vehicular movements, it was decided that the odd and even system would continue to be enforced. Vegetable vendors would be allowed to sell only in their respective colonies and not in the main market. It was decided that DC would officially write to the  respective colony authorities for streamlining the vegetable market under their jurisdiction. DC has directed the public for buying essential commodities from their respective colonies/village shops.

Interstate, Inter District and Inter village movement would be restricted however, movement of medical emergencies and essential goods and services with proper safety measures in place would be allowed. The meeting further decided that Autos/ Taxis would be allowed to ply with only 1 passenger following all necessary SOPs.

Wholesale market would remain open from 5am to 9 am only while New Market, Hongkong market, Hazi Park, Millenium Market, Railway Bazaar and vegetable market at Purana Bazaar will continue to remain closed completely.

However, it was decided that District administration, Police, Para military/Army, Medical, Treasury, Fire and Emergency, Home guards and civil defence, Prisons, IT&C PHED, Power, NIC, DIPR, F&CS, Social Welfare, Municipality/Town Council, AIR, Doordarshan, Pharmacies Medical clinics, Nursing homes, BSNL and private telecom services, internet service providers, Media, LPG ATMs, Banks with minimal staff, Petroleum outlets would be exempted from the purview of total lockdown.  

DC Dimapur cautioned that violators would be liable to be proceeded against, as per the provision of the section 51 to 60 of the District Disaster Management Act 2005 besides legal action under section 188 of the IPC.
