District consultative workshop on Viksit Nagaland @2047 was held in Longleng on 17th April 2026, at DPDB hall, with all Heads of Offices, stakeholders and Civil Society Organisation. The programme was organised by the Government of Nagaland and the District Administration Longleng.
Deputy Commissioner, Longleng, W. Manpai Phom, NCS, welcomed all participants and gave an overview of the Viksit Nagaland@2047 vision and said that while the Government of India and state government design schemes and projects, implementation takes place at the grassroots level. He observed that schemes often prove ineffective or difficult to implement locally because local perspectives and requirements are not incorporated during planning. Programmes designed for a pan-India context may not suit local conditions, he added.
Members were urged not to treat the exercise as merely academic but to actively deliberate on the district’s specific needs. The consultation seeks to collect ideas, suggestions, and inputs so that state and national plans reflect district-specific priorities.
Central experts present at the workshop clarified that their role was not to judge local performance but to facilitate discussions and compile inputs in a structured format. Participants from departments and CSOs were encouraged to share sectoral issues, requirements and suggestions openly, even if the responses were not technically framed for the workshop’s format.
The consultation has been structured around five pillars for discussion: economic development, social development, environmental sustainability, infrastructure development, and institutional handling. Departments were also asked to provide relevant data and field-level information.
Officials expressed hope that the inclusive planning process, with inputs from women, children, and other social groups, will play a crucial role in shaping state government plans and ensuring effective implementation at the grassroots level.
The district line departments briefly presented the five SWG pillars of Viksit Nagaland@ 2047 vision. Assistant Horticulture Officer, Y. Angngoi Buchem briefly presented on Agri. and Allied departments. District Sports Officer, Angoto Thokhwe presented on Social pillars. AFC Forest, Ailong Phom presented on Environmental pillars, DSCO Angnyin Konyak presented on Soil and Water Conservation Department. SDO Power Moiching Phom presented on infrastructure pillars. Er. Lipoksangla Chang presented on Public Health Engineering Department and SP Longleng, Yanger Jamir presented on Intuitional pillars.
