Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Mon organised a training of Paravets and farmers on Livestock Insurance Scheme under NLM 2025-2026 at DRDA Hall, Mon on 17th April 2026.
Addressing the training programme, Kedoseno Rino, EAC Mon HQ, said that good health is never guaranteed, no matter how careful we are—and the same applies to livestock. She noted that Nagas rearing livestock for both business and personal use, but often do not take enough steps to safeguard and protect them.
She explained that insurance covers can help safeguard livestock during unexpected events or calamity. Since livestock business involves risk, she advised farmers to be wise and protect their source of income through insurance.
She also encouraged farmers to make full use of government training programs, learn new skills and share knowledge with others. She further commended the department for organizing the training programme.
In the technical session, resource person Dr. Manjan Konyak, Farm Manager gave an insight on Livestock Insurance Scheme regulations, claim documents, financial security, benefits and risk factors and the detailed procedures of this scheme.
While Dr. Yato Konyak C, VAS, highlighted some common livestock diseases in Nagaland including Haemorrhagic Septicaemia (HS), Foot and Mouth Diseases (FMD), Anthrax, Brucellosis, Johne’s disease, Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD), PPR in Goats, Classical Swine Fever (CSF), Swine Erysipelas, PRRS- Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome. He also gave an overview of vaccine options available in the state.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Youngmei Arolim, VAS. Welcome address was delivered by Dr. Manloi Konyak, VS, Mon. Invocation was pronounced by L. Hohmeth Konyak, Supervisor. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Pangdun Konyak, VAS.
