Nagaland Governor, Nand Kishore Yadav, visited Niuland district and held interaction with the Leaders of Civil Society Organizations and government department officials on 5th May 2026 at DC’s Conference Hall, Niuland.
Governor in his address extend his heartfelt gratitude to all the dignitaries and tribal representatives/organizations for their participation and commended the district administration for successfully organizing the meaningful interaction.
Yadav mentioned that Niuland as one of the youngest districts of Nagaland holds immense promise and potential while it is still in its formative years, he also added that he is encouraged to see a strong sense of unity, identity and purpose among its people. The coming together of different tribal bodies and community organizations reflects the spirit of cooperation and harmony which is essential for progress and development.
He said that his visit to the district is part of an effort to understand the aspirations, challenges and priorities of the people at the grassroots level and added that Development is most effective when it is inclusive and responsive to local needs and urge all stakeholders—civil society organizations, village leaders, and district administration—to continue working in close coordination to ensure that government initiatives reach every household.
He also emphasised the importance of maintaining peace, strengthening community bonds and nurturing the values of integrity and responsibility. As Niuland grows, it must do so with a vision that balances development with preservation of its rich cultural heritage and traditions, he said.
The Governor while reminding the community leaders particularly the GBs and tribal organizations that their role is crucial in guiding society and fostering cooperation among the people, also added that their leadership and commitment will play a key role in shaping the future of this district. He assured his continued support and encouragement and said that together with collective effort and shared responsibility Niuland will emerge as a model district in the State.
He also held interaction with the beneficiaries of various government schemes of the district. 
Dr. Rosemary Sema, Medical Officer from the Department of Health & Family Welfare and Dr. O. Amihe Swu, TOT, ENRC Niuland, from School Education Department, highlighted the achievements, undertakings and challenges of their respective departments during the Power Point Presentation.
Earlier, short speeches were delivered by Vikato Achumi, President of the Western Sumi Hoho, K. Yimso, President, Yimkhiung Arihako Niuland and Isawoto Zhimomi, President, Niuland District GBs Association while Niuland Town Sumi Totimi Loka presented a Folk song.
The program was chaired by Deputy Commisioner Niuland, T. L. Kiusumong Tikhir.
