A seminar on "Article 371(A) and "The Nagaland Village Council Act 1978" organised by Ao Senden and hosted by, Minister, Rural Development & SIRD, Metsubo Jamir was held on 12th May 2026 at Town Hall, Mokokchung.

Chief Secretary, Nagaland, Sentiyanger Imchen, IAS while speaking on the topic stated that Article 371 (A) is a provision under the constitution of India intended to safeguard the traditional and customary identity of the Naga people. However, he remarked that many fail to fully understand the provision and often misinterpret its purpose, which he described as unfortunate.

Stating that Article 371(A) is a temporary transitional provision, he emphasized the need to adapt to and follow the laid down rules and law that evolve with changing times and societal needs. He further observed that laws act as agents of social change necessary for the progress of society. He also stated that while laws are framed for the common good, good governance depends on their judicious implementation for the welfare and betterment of the people. 

Earlier, Minister Rural Development & SIRD, Metsubo Jamir also delivered a short speech. The main speaker of the seminar was C.T. Jamir Legal advisor Ao Senden & Senior Advocate, Gauhati High Court and Sentiyanger Pongen, Advocate, Gauhati High Court.
