The District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) Wokha held its monthly meeting on 14th May 2026 at the DC’s Conference Hall, Wokha, under the chairmanship of Advisor for Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan and Deputy Commissioner Wokha, K. Mhathung Tsanglao, NCS.
Speaking at the meeting, Advisor for Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan highlighted the vital importance of DPDB meetings in shaping development activities. He urged members to take discussions seriously, share ideas for an inclusive approach, and make the meetings more effective. He further suggested that departments prepare PowerPoint presentations so that members can better understand ongoing work and activities. He assured that the practice of visiting institutions and departments to review their work will continue under his chairmanship to bring effectiveness in approach.
Attending his first DPDB meeting K. Mhathung Tsanglao, the Deputy Commissioner introduced himself and urged members to ensure proper and regular attendance. He emphasized the need for cooperation and collective effort to bring greater impact towards development and overall progress in the district.
The meeting began with a review of the previous month’s DPDB meeting, where identification of land for the construction of a new District Hospital was discussed. ADC Wokha, Renbomo Ezung, who is the chairman of the committee, briefed members on feasible locations for the hospital.
Further discussions were held on the Doyang Polytechnic Institution, where landslides and mudslides have posed serious threats to the campus structures, faculty, and students. With major buildings at risk of collapse, the house resolved to set up a committee to examine the threat and recommend immediate measures to tackle the issue.
The meeting also deliberated on the shortage of NST bus services in Wokha district, affecting connectivity to various villages.
