A one-day training on “Scientific Fish Farming Practices “Implemented by the Department of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Government of Nagaland under Training and Extension 2026-27 was held at Agri. Hall, Mon on 16th May 2026. District Fishery Officer, Mon, Angun Wangshu welcomed the participants and said that the programme is being conducted with the objective of strengthening the knowledge and skills of the participants and imparting important information. She also cited the differences in practicing traditional and scientific farming.
Fishery Inspector, Mon, Kedolhouse Kuotsu, briefed on the site selection for fish farming- Ecological factors like water supply, water quality, Climate, Hydrological Character, soil and land. Biological and operational- Species, Seed Sources and cultural type and Economic and social factors. He also explained types of Pond- Nursery, Rearing and Grow out Ponds. He encouraged the farmers for proper farm planning.
Kito H Yeptho, Fishery Inspector, Mon briefed on the basic Pond Management- pond liming and proper fish feeding techniques. He encouraged farmers to maintain good pond hygiene and regularly monitor water quality.  All together around 15 fish farmers took part in the training.
