The State Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti, Social Welfare Department organized a State Level Consultative Meeting and Training Program for District Functionaries of Mission Shakti, Nagaland at the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) Auditorium, Kohima on 15th May 2026. The programme aimed to strengthen coordination, capacity building, and effective implementation of women and child welfare schemes across the state under Mission Shakti.

Tosheli Zhimomi, Director, Social Welfare & Member Secretary, Mission Shakti who chaired the inaugural session, appreciated the dedicated services of district functionaries in all the 17 districts and also acknowledged the best performance districts in various categories. 

In her introductory address, Yongchingkumla, Secretary, Social Welfare, Government of Nagaland and Mission Director, Mission Shakti highlighted several key achievements under Mission Shakti during the last financial year, notable among which were that, Sakhi-One Stop Centres (OSC) has been established in six newly created districts in October 2025; the continued outreach efforts of Shakti Sadan and Sakhi Niwas in supporting targeted beneficiaries, and the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), under which 6,878 beneficiaries received cash incentives amounting to Rs. 3,33,97,000 through Direct Benefit Transfer during FY 2025–26. Appreciating their dedication despite challenges, she urged officials to continue serving women with sensitivity, efficiency, accountability, and timely intervention.

Delivering the keynote address, Limawabang Jamir, IAS, Secretary & AHoD, Social Welfare, Government of Nagaland, stressed that the main intervention strategy to effectively implement activities under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) and Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEW) is through convergence. He highlighted the fruitful collaboration of the Social Welfare Department, the District Administration and other converging departments in carrying out the Mission’s activities, and stressed on the importance of collaborative efforts and effective service delivery in addressing issues concerning women and children in the state.

The technical session included a presentation on convergence with key missions and programmes under the Department of Social Welfare by Asangla Jamir, Assistant Director, Social Welfare. The programme also featured sharing of best practices by the districts under SANKALP – District Hub for Empowerment of Women, SAKHI – One Stop Centre, Shakti Sadan, and Sakhi Niwas. A session on integrated service delivery mechanisms for children was conducted by Raitale Zeliang, Program Manager, State Child Protection Society, Mission Vatsalya.

The programme concluded with deliberations and interactive discussions aimed at strengthening district-level coordination and improving support systems for women and children across Nagaland.
