A district-wide mass social work was conducted across Chumoukedima district on May 22, 2026, as part of monsoon preparedness measures.

The exercise focused on cleaning and unclogging drains, removal of debris and construction materials, waste disposal, clearing of foliage, and maintenance of public spaces and utilities.

SDO (C) & RO, Chumoukedima, Thejavizo Nakhro led a joint inspection along National Highway-29 during the social work. A coordinated team consisting of Water Resources Department, PWD, PHED, Fire & Emergency Services, 1st NAP Battalion, Chumoukedima Town Youth Organization and NHIDCL undertook cleaning activities along the NH stretch from 3rd Mile Airport culvert to Chathe Bridge (Patkai Bridge).

The social work was successfully conducted through the collective efforts of government departments, Chumoukedima Town Council, Village Councils, GBs, civil society organisations and members of the public across the district. The initiative was undertaken to encourage community participation and promote a cleaner and healthier environment ahead of the monsoon season.
