The 5^th Day of “Swachh Gaon, Surakshit Jalvayu” campaign, ‘Special Gram Sabha' for World Environment Day 2026 was observed on 5^th June 2026. During the Special Gram Sabha drive, the focus was on sensitizations of all participants on the Solid Waste Management Rules 2026, sources sustainability discussion, planning under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM 2.0), promotion of rain water harvesting, implementation of ground water recharge measures and prevention of source contamination through community-led initiatives.

Most villages under Niuland District carried out the Special Gram Sabha and thereafter a tree plantation drive on the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” was also carried out. The event saw a good number of participants who voluntarily took part during the occasion.
