Considering the welfare of the public as well as the traders, Dimapur District Task Force approved the report of the sub committee headed by Administrator DMC, Albert Ezung, for gradual reopening of shops under Dimapur district.
In an emergency meeting of DTF convened by Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan IAS, on 13th August 2020 under his chairmanship, the members agreed for opening of all categories of shops w.e.f. from Monday and also decided for closure of all shops every Wednesday. However, shops dealing with essential commodities would remain open on all days, the members decided.
To avoid overcrowding, the house decided that vegetable vendors would be allowed to sell vegetables only in the colonies/ villages and not in the daily markets. Hawkers/ vendors along the super market footpaths would be prohibited.
As suggested by the sub- committee, the members revised the timing of time slots for whole sellers from 5 am to 10 am and retailers from 10 am to 5pm.
The issue of reopening of Hazi Park (Hongkong market) New Market, Milennium Market etc would be decided after receiving the approval of the Government.
DC Dimapur informed that the sub committee would still be in place and directed them to monitor and submit reports time to time. On behalf of Dimapur DTF, DC Dimapur also appealed to the citizens for avoiding overcrowding in the markets as market timing has been extended and sufficient stock of commodities are available.
DMC Administrator impressed upon the members that the sub committee after thorough deliberations considered the suggestion from various quarters and drew a plan in such a way so as to avoid overcrowding in the markets and for maintaining social distancing.
In the meeting, CMO DImapur, Dr.Mereninla Senlem emphasised on the need for sensitising the village bodies on the issue of keeping asymptomatic COVID positive cases in their homes so that the COVID Care Centers could be reserved for serious COVID cases. Towards this DC Dimapur assured for conducting phase wise sensitisation, as large gathering are not advisable at the present juncture. She also informed that non COVID center would be activated within a day or two for treating non COVID patients.
MS Dimapur, Dr.Kuveduyi Theyo, also informed that one OT for covid positive patients and another OT designated for non COVID patients would be activated within a couple of days. Any serious patient who comes to the hospital will not be turned down, Dr.Theyo assured.
