The second edition of the CDFA League-II cum Rokonicha Champions Trophy began at Chümoukedima on 25th July 2026, with S. Keoshu Yimchunger, Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports as the special guest.
While addressing the gathering, Advisor Keoshu said that talented players have the potential to progress and represent the state at national, and international levels. He urged the organising committee and community leaders not to limit the tournament to the football season alone, but to continue training young players throughout the year and provide them with more opportunities and platforms to develop their skills. He expressed confidence that, with proper guidance and support, these youngsters would bring laurels to the state in the years to come.
The Advisor also encouraged the committee to identify and nurture talented players during the tournament so they can go on to represent Nagaland at various levels of competition. He informed that the department annually identifies promising young athletes, sponsors scholarships for them, and provides opportunities to play for different clubs. He further appealed to the committee to collaborate closely with the department for the overall development of young footballers.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Visako Rino, Vice President of the Chumoukedima District Football Association (CDFA), while the invocation was pronounced by Mhasivizo Pucho of Town Baptist Church, Chumoukedima. The keynote address was delivered by Sedevikho Angami, President of CDFA.
The programme also featured a special musical presentation by Neisenuo Shüya, Ambassador of Euphony School of Music, Chumoukedima. Megozelhou Kuotsu, eldest son of Late Rokonicha, delivered a message on behalf of the Rokonicha family, while K. Neibou Sekhose, President of the Nagaland Football Association, extended greetings to the gathering.
The tournament officially commenced following the inaugural ceremony and is expected to witness enthusiastic participation from clubs across Chumoukedima district, reaffirming the spirit of unity under the theme "One Chumoukedima." A total of six teams are participating in the tournament.
