Tsungremmung festival, the traditional festival of the Ao community was celebrated across the district and the state with traditional fervour and community participation in Mokokchung.

In Mokokchung, the celebration was held at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung on 3rd August 2026 organized by the Ao Senden with Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), S. Supongmeren Jamir as the honored guest.

Addressing the festive gathering Jamir said that while celebrating Tsungremmung, the people should also understand and live with the essence of the festival, which he described it as the sanctification of oneself and the community to invoke blessing for prosperity in the land.

Speaking on various issues and challenges faced by the community, Jamir urged the people to move away from the culture of blame and instead introspect on their own actions and responsibilities. He emphasized that meaningful changes in society can be brought about only when individuals and the community collectively reflect on their actions and work towards positive transformation.

He further called upon the people to uphold the values and spirit embodied in Tsungremmung, making the celebration not merely on occasion of festivity but also a time for self- reflection, renewal, unity and collective responsibility.

On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS and Imkongchuba A. Chairperson of Mokokchung Municipal Council extended Tsungremmung    greetings to the gathering people.

The welcome address was delivered by Marsanen Imsong, President of Ao Senden, while the significance of Tsungremmung was shared by I. Alemmeren Longchar, Chairman Village Council Khensa.

The celebration also featured traditional presentation and community activities providing an opportunity for the people to come together, strengthen social bonds and reaffirm cultural heritage.
